About the role
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Paralegal (Hybrid) to provide legal services to the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor’s Office, and all 22 universities. The position involves assisting attorneys, the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, and the Paralegal Supervisor in various legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist Office of General Counsel attorneys with Public Records Act requests, unlawful detainers, stop notices, subpoenas, student loan bankruptcy proceedings, small claims court filings, Pitchess motions, improper use of the CSU name, Title IX, legislation, emergency health and safety, athletics, and database management.
- Prepare materials, exhibits, and filings with the proper agency.
- Conduct research, draft documents, organize, analyze documents, prepare charts, reports, graphs, summaries, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Respond to Public Act Requests and coordinate campus responses.
- Manage and maintain relevant databases.
- Interact with various constituents within the Office of General Counsel, CSU, and the public.
- Delegate tasks and provide feedback for support staff.
- Contribute to the mission of the office and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Minimum seven years of recent and relevant paralegal experience in California.
- Litigation experience is required, and trial experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with NetDocs, eCounsel, Westlaw, and e-discovery.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Public agency experience is a plus.
- Higher education experience is a plus.
- Some travel may be required.

Pay
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $115,440 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule
This is a 3/2 hybrid position, where the paralegal works in-person at the Chancellor’s Office, Long Beach three days per week, and remotely two days per week. The incumbent is required to work in-person on certain dates at management’s discretion.
