Paralegal, Global Markets (Structured Products)

About the role

The derivatives and structured products team at Ashurst Perkins Coie is seeking a paralegal to support one of their Global Structured Products Partners in New York. This role offers a high level of responsibility and training, with substantial industry expertise and a steady flow of diverse transactions.

Responsibilities

• Document and manage structured securities issuances governed by English, French or New York law for European and US-based clients.
• Communicate regularly with clients and other legal counsels regarding outstanding deals.
• Assist with the filing of deals with European regulators and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
• Maintain detailed records of client deal history and assume responsibility for crucial administrative duties relating to those records.
• Conduct in-depth legal research, draft and coordinate the execution of offering documents, and carefully review filings prior to submission.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university (preferably in Economics, Finance or other related fields); minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an interest in financial markets.
• Capacity to work in a team setting and perform tasks/projects independently.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with Bloomberg Terminal or other programming languages is a plus but not required.
• Availability/Flexibility to support early operations (including starting work at 5am Eastern Time).

Qualifications

• Desirable but not essential to have experience working in securities and/or banking as a foreign lawyer in a common-law or civil-law jurisdiction or related occupation.
