Paralegal
About the role
This position is based in Erie, PA out of our corporate office, and is an in-person position under ERIE's hybrid remote work bank policy.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of legal memoranda.
- Performs legal research at the direction of attorneys.
- Aids attorneys in routine legal matters and provides administrative support as needed.
- Aids attorneys in responding to subpoenas served upon The ERIE.
- Prepares documents and maintains Structured Settlements, including opening and closing Structured Settlement files.
- Prepares documents and maintains Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) Hearing documentation, Act 68 and Act 205 logs, including opening and closing these files.
- Attends meetings and takes notes for attorneys.
- Maintains spreadsheet of restitution payments received, and forwards payments to appropriate Division for processing.
- Aids attorneys, Treasury Department and Claims Operations Department with bankruptcy matters, preference payments and proofs of claim.
- Prepares Hold Orders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirements: High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
- Minimum of six years experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, or equivalent, required.
- Completion of paralegal degree or certification program required.
Skills
Working knowledge of contract law and experience using contract life cycle management applications preferred. Strong organizational and research skills required, experience with Westlaw strongly preferred.

Pay
$63,130.00 - $100,843.00 * salary range is for this level and may vary based on actual level of role hired for

Standard working hours for this position are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST with one-hour lunch.
