Paraeducator (Vista Verde Middle), Special Education, PC #2093

About the role

The Paraeducator supports teachers in the instructional activities for students enrolled in special education moderate/severe programs and/or mainstream classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Support students with daily living skills and social interactions
• Participate in group and individual counseling sessions
• Provide assistance during classroom activities and transitions
• Monitor student behavior and implement appropriate interventions
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement educational strategies

Requirements

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate’s or higher degree OR able to meet a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge or and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and mathematics
• Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with school-age children or children/individuals with disabilities
• Licenses and Certifications: Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability, First Aid, Complete approved MCOE Crisis Intervention Program within six (6) months of employment and maintains valid certification, CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment, Program for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing: Ability to pass the MCOE sign language test within six (6) months of employment
