Paraeducator - South Row Elementary School

About the role

Work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom, to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. The position involves working one-on-one, with small groups of students, or supporting students within the general education inclusion classroom.

Responsibilities

• Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, and socially in the school setting
• Assist students with toileting as needed
• Follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
• Collect data consistently
• Prepare and maintain records

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or passing of the para test
• Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities
• Knowledge of school classroom procedure
• Knowledge of special education procedures
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the elementary school level
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting

Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
