Paraeducator - Preschool (Bilingual Preferred), 6.0 hrs/day (.75 FTE), Part Time, Temp (Multiple Positions)

About the role

The North Clackamas School District is seeking multiple part-time temporary paraeducators to assist teachers in various educational and support roles. The positions are expected to end on June 17, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in assessment, curriculum implementation, and student interactions.
• Supports enforcement and teaching of safe behaviors and enhances social growth of students.
• Implements behavior support and intervention plans as directed by teachers.
• Documents student behavior to assist teachers in assessing progress with education plans.
• Maintains or assists in maintaining student weekly progress reports.
• Provides limited first aid when necessary.
• Assesses injuries to determine whether nursing care is needed.
• Maintains knowledge of students with medical concerns to remain aware of potentially dangerous situations.
• Communicates with students, parents, community members, and other staff members while exercising discretion and protecting student confidentiality.
• Manages student behavior to ensure student safety, intervening when necessary to de-escalate students at risk of harm.
• Supports students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations through instructional support and tutoring.
• Supervises student activities such as recess, playground, bus duty, crossing guard duty, and hallway supervision.
• Performs clerical duties such as making copies, operating office equipment, answering telephones, ordering materials, and record keeping.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or demonstrated commitment to engaging diverse communities.
• Associate's Degree or two years of post-high school education in appropriate and related areas of study.
• May be required to be certified or to become certified in first aid, CPR, and/or operation of defibrillators.
• Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities.
• Able to assist, console, and manage students who may be emotional, distraught, or frustrated.
• Able to remain calm, focused, and in control when working with students, parents, guardians, and community members.
• Able to follow written and verbal direction and take the initiative to seek clarity and take action when needed.
• Knowledgeable and supportive of classroom management and student discipline procedures.
• Proficient in the proper use of the English language to include enunciation, spelling, and syntax.
• Able to organize work and set priorities for accomplishing work in a timely and effective manner.
• Able to protect the confidentiality of student information consistent with FERPA requirements and good judgment.
• Collaborative and effective communication skills.
• Skill in the use of office and computer equipment and use standard office software and student information system software.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate and related field of study.
• Two years of experience that demonstrates the ability to work successfully with children in a learning environment.
• Bilingual and bicultural skills in common languages to the District as Spanish, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese (to be determined by the specific position).

Benefits

The North Clackamas School District offers a retirement plan through PERS and OPSRP, with contributions made by the employer and the employee. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify for retirement benefits.

Pay

Initial wage placement according to NCSD/OSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Classified Wage Schedule 2026-2027.

Schedule

M-Th 7:15-2:30, Friday 7:15-10:15; subject to change depending on department needs.

Work Calendar

180 days minimum.
