About the role
A paraeducator in the Pre-K program assists the teacher in creating a safe and engaging environment that supports the social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth of young children.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students across various settings.
- Engage positively with students during snacks and meals.
- Assist with basic student needs including self-care, feeding, toileting, diapering, and physical transfers.
- Support teachers in school activities and administrative tasks.
- Communicate with parents as needed.
- Participate in classroom management and positive reinforcement activities.
- Complete district-required forms for snack and toileting.
- Prepare instructional materials and learning centers.
- Collaborate with the PreK team to implement developmentally appropriate practices.
- Manage classroom routines and procedures.
- Implement and support student behavior plans.
- Participate in team responsibilities and communicate with team members.
- Promote student engagement in activities.
- Provide accommodations and modifications to meet individual student needs.
- Contribute to data collection for individual and group activities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 48 accredited college credits, verifiable through a transcript or state-approved assessment.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood preferred.
- Pass a Physical Capacity Profile (PCP) test.
