Paraeducator Physical Education - Laurelwood (QSS 6767)

About the role

Under the direction of the Principal and an assigned supervisor, assist the certificated teacher and/or Physical Education Teacher on Special Assignment (P.E. TOSA) in providing instruction in physical education to groups of elementary level students; implement assigned lessons with assigned groups of students; monitor and report student progress.

Responsibilities

• Organize groups and lead physical education learning activities for students
• Instruct classrooms of elementary students in a physical education program
• Reinforce instruction as directed by the physical education teacher or the P.E. TOSA
• Provide a safe and productive environment for students to learn
• Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures
• Report progress regarding student performance and behavior in acquiring physical education skills
• Perform other duties such as clerical tasks as assigned and compensated at the appropriate rate

Requirements

• Graduation from high school
• Demonstrated experience working with children in an organized setting
• Completion of CPR and First Aid Training
• Basic Competency Test
