About the Role
Quest Academy offers students in Alameda County an alternative to classroom instruction with a standards-based course of study. Independent Study is an instructional strategy that is based on a contractual agreement between the teacher, the student, and the parents/guardians. We are seeking a dedicated Paraeducator to support classroom instruction and work alongside the teacher to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering young women, building meaningful relationships, and helping students achieve academic and personal success.
Responsibilities
- Proctor, administer, and assist in administering assigned testing (e.g. MAP, SBAC, ELPAC, CELDT, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper protocols are followed and maximizing student opportunities for success.
- Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and grade level standards.
- Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. meal counts, attendance, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing written reference, and/or meeting mandated requirements.
- Monitor individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Provide secretarial support related to the community school program, including serving and clean-up of meals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Prior experience working with high-risk students is desirable.
- CPR/First Aid Training and Conflict Resolution – required to obtain if selected.
Schedule
7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week.
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays: Oakland – Emerge School, 510 16th Street Oakland, CA 94612 (Emerge at Girls Inc.)
- Wednesdays: Oakland – Bridge Academy, 750 International Blvd. Oakland, CA 94606
