About the role

Students served may qualify for Special Services under any of the 13 federal Special Education eligibility categories; they have varying levels of academic, adaptive, and behavioral needs. The most common areas of disability in East Side Union High School District are Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, Other Health Impairments, Intellectual Disabilities, and Emotional Disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • To assist a certificated teacher(s) in the instruction, supervision, and training of individual or groups of students by performing a variety of instructional support activities;
  • To perform a variety of related duties in the maintenance of an effective leaning environment;
  • To perform clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have the equivalent of two years of full-time college (at least 48-semester units) - OR pass the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) test.
  • Candidates who have successfully submitted their online application are eligible for testing, if needed.
  • A copy of transcripts is required as an attachment to your online application, or you must pass the NCLB Test.
  • Foreign Transcripts - We require all foreign transcripts to be evaluated in order to be accepted. To have your foreign transcripts evaluated by one of the approved organizations provided in the list please go to: https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/commission-approved-foreign-transcript-evaluating-agencies
  • While you explore the options to have your foreign transcripts evaluated, we strongly encourage you to sign-up to take the required NCLB assessment. Please attach a current resume.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Successful candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide Official Sealed Transcripts.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Knowledge of the general needs and behaviors of students
  • Knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations
  • Ability to learn methods and procedures to be followed in assigned instructional situation
  • Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
  • Ability to understand the needs of assigned students and to effectively relate to those needs in a learning situation
  • Ability to learn the requirements of the students in the specific learning program(s) to which assigned
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
  • Ability to effectively supervise students in a variety of situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate classroom/center records and files
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written forms
  • Ability to operate standard office and instructional equipment as appropriate to area of assignment including typewriter, copier, scantron, computer terminal, etc
  • Ability to type accurately at a rate required for successful job performance
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties

  • Range 7: $21.28 / Hour - $27.19 / Hour with 30 College Semester Units
  • Range 8: $21.87 / Hour - $27.84 / Hour with 60 College Semester Units OR Associates Degree
  • Range 9: $22.37 / Hour - $28.55 / Hour with 90 College Semester Units
  • Range 10: $22.94 / Hour - $29.27 / Hour with Bachelors Degree
