Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom; Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, behavior, social and community skills.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and at least two years experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities; AND one of the following: possession of an Associate’s degree or higher, at least 48 college semester units or pass the (ESSA) Every Student Succeeds Act exam.
Certificate Required: This position requires the SCOE Para Proficiency certificate OR one of the following: NCLB/ESSA certificate, CBEST, or transcripts showing minimum 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded. Attach a copy to your application.
Benefits
A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Range: $28.49 - $35.08 Per Hour (Range 13, CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule). Initial placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 2 ($30.10/HR) for applicants.
- Length of Work Year: 185 days/year, 5 days/week, 6 hours/day (8:35 a.m. - 3:05 p.m.)
