About the role
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students who may have extreme behavioral issues in a classroom. Provide direct instruction, monitor, and report student progress regarding behavior and performance. Assist students in developing various self-help, behavior, social, and community skills.

Requirements
- Graduation from high school
- At least two years of experience, paid or voluntary, working with children/individuals with disabilities
- One of the following:
- Associate’s degree or higher
- At least 48 college semester units
- Pass the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) exam
- One of the following certificates (attach a copy to your application):
- SCOE Para Proficiency certificate
- NCLB/ESSA certificate
- CBEST
- Transcripts showing minimum 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher was awarded
Pay
- Pay range: $28.49 – $35.08 per hour
- Initial placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 2 ($30.10/HR) for applicants
Schedule
- 185 days per year
- 5 days per week
- 6 hours per day (8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)

Benefits
A benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
