About the role
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom. Monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social, and community skills.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school and some experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- SCOE Para Proficiency Test certificate (or equivalent: NCLB/ESSA Test certificate from Stanislaus County, CBEST, or transcripts showing a minimum of 48 college units or an AA Degree or higher). Proof must be attached to the application.
Pay
Pay range: $22.40 – $27.44 per hour (Range 7, CSEA Classified Hourly Salary Schedule).
Schedule
- 181 days per year, 5 days per week.
- 6 hours per day (8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.).
- Part-time position.
Benefits
A benefit entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.

Waterford Child Development Center, Waterford, CA.
