About the role

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom, monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Qualifications

This position requires the SCOE Para Proficiency Test certificate. The following can be substituted for the SCOE Para Proficiency Test:

• NCLB/ESSA Test certificate from Stanislaus County
• CBEST
• Transcripts showing a minimum of 48 college units or date an AA Degree or higher level degree was awarded (transcripts can be unofficial).

Pay

Pay Range: $22.40 - $27.44 per hour (Range 7, CSEA Classified Hourly Salary Schedule).

Schedule

• 181 days per year
• 5 days per week
• 6 hours per day (8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)
• Part-time

Benefits

A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental, and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
