About the role

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some experience in working with children or individuals with disabilities
• SCOE Para Educator Proficiency Test certificate, or substitute:
  • NCLB/ESSA Test certificate from Stanislaus County
  • CBEST
  • Transcripts showing minimum of 48 college units or date AA Degree or higher level degree was awarded (unofficial transcripts accepted)

If offered employment, the following will be required: DOJ Fingerprint clearance, TB Clearance, Lift Test/Drug Screen clearance.

Pay

Pay Range: $22.40 – $27.44 per hour (CSEA Classified Regular Salary Schedule, Range 7). Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($24.95) for external candidates.

Schedule

Part-time, 6 hours per day, 181 days/10 months.

Benefits

A benefit entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
