General Job Duties
- Lead and supervise panel shop design and fabrication personnel, including scheduling, hiring, performance management, and day-to-day operations, while obtaining and maintaining UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) certification.
- Design electrical control panels and related control structures, including layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, component selection, enclosure sizing, and control circuits ranging from 24VDC and 120VAC to limited 480VAC three-phase applications.
- Develop and review quotations, Bills of Materials, drawings, and project documentation while ensuring compliance with UL 508A, NEC, IEC, NFPA, and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, technicians, and external organizations to support fabrication, resolve technical issues, incorporate field changes, and deliver customer requirements.
- Perform design reviews, oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), maintain revision control, and promote safe work practices throughout the panel shop environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in control panel design, electrical drafting, or a similar industrial environment, with working knowledge of industrial automation systems, electrical schematics, and wiring practices.
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical codes and standards, maintain project documentation, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across engineering and operations teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is a plus but not required.
- Ability to review and inspect panels on the shop floor.
- Occasionally lift or move components up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work around electrical equipment safely.
Preferred
- UL 508A panel design experience and/or current or previous UL 508A MTR certification.
- Familiarity with panel shop fabrication processes and basic PLC programming platforms such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
- Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities and working within industrial automation, manufacturing, or systems integration environments.
