Pan-African Commons Student Center Program Coordinator
About the role
The Program Coordinator leads the Pan-African Commons Student Center and the Cultural Resource Center to foster an inclusive environment for African American, African, Black students. They facilitate co-curricular programming that supports student success through community building, cultural programs, social justice pedagogy, leadership development, community service, and identity development. The Coordinator also coordinates with student groups, campus departments, and community organizations to align with the mission of the Cultural Resource Centers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate co-curricular programming to support student success.
- Facilitate community-building activities, cultural programs, and social justice initiatives.
- Support leadership development and identity exploration among students.
- Engage students in planning and implementing programs for the African American, African, Black community and other cultural centers.
- Collaborate with student groups, on-campus departments, and community organizations to advance the mission of the Cultural Resource Centers.
- Work under the direction of the Assistant Director and report to the Executive Director of Multicultural Student Services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with at least three years of experience in program development focused on equity principles.
- Experience working with African American, African, Black students and community members.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer application proficiency.
- Experience with event planning and budget management.
- Knowledge of social justice theories and equity.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of urban African American, African, Black communities and organizations.
- Experience supervising adult student workers.
- Strategic organizational skills.
- Understanding of higher education policies and program requirements.
- Experience with social media.

Pay
Salary is dependent on several factors, including years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be $58,596 but may be negotiated above this rate based on the factors mentioned.
