About the role
As a Painting Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in bringing our boats to life—ensuring every surface reflects the premium quality and craftsmanship Barletta is known for. You’ll work hands-on with fiberglass, plastic, and metal components, applying expert finishing techniques that deliver both durability and a flawless appearance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting: sanding, cleaning, masking, and priming
- Apply coatings including gel coat, primers, basecoat/clearcoat, and marine-grade paints
- Operate spray equipment (HVLP and similar) to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes
- Inspect, polish, and refine surfaces to meet exacting standards
- Identify and correct paint defects (runs, fisheyes, orange peel, etc.)
- Maintain tools and equipment for peak performance
- Follow production schedules and quality standards
- Uphold OSHA safety guidelines and proper chemical handling
- Keep your workspace clean, safe, and organized
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- 2–3+ years of experience in industrial, automotive, or marine painting
- Experience working with fiberglass, plastic, or metal surfaces
- Proficiency with spray equipment (HVLP preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
Qualifications
- Preferred Certifications:
- HVLP Spray Gun Training Certification
- I-CAR Refinishing Certification (ProLevel 1 or similar)
- AMPP (NACE/SSPC) Coatings Certification
- Marine/Fiberglass repair certification
- Powder coating certification
Skills
