About the role
The role involves performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain the operation of buildings within the network. This includes emergency and routine repairs, mechanical equipment maintenance, lighting and nurse call light replacements, bed and equipment repairs, temperature control adjustments, sink and toilet maintenance, painting services, documentation, preventative maintenance, and assisting trades in equipment installation, maintenance, or repair.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and routine repairs within department timeframes and meet regulatory requirements for safety.
- Maintain mechanical equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Replace and repair lights, nurse call lights, beds, and other patient equipment.
- Adjust temperature control devices and ensure sinks and toilets are in working order.
- Complete other repairs as per established guidelines.
- Provide painting services according to established guidelines.
- Document repairs, replacement parts, and adjustments as per department and regulatory guidelines.
- Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program in accordance with established timeframes and OSHA requirements.
- Avoid safety hazards by ensuring safety equipment and tools are readily available and in working order.
- Assist various trades in the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment, piping, electric, HVAC systems, and other duties as per department standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma related field of study preferred.
- Prior trades experience of 1-2 years required.
- Licensed as a Section 608 Technician Certification - Environmental Protection Agency preferred.
- Knowledgeable of safe maintenance practices, procedures, and guidelines.
- Effective verbal, electronic, and written communications skills using the English language.
- Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a member of a team.

This role does not require patient care. Experience in lieu of a degree is accepted.
