Responsibilities
- Lead daily painting work activities, assign tasks, and provide guidance to painters or maintenance team members.
- Train team members on proper painting techniques, equipment use, PPE, chemical handling, and site procedures.
- Inspect completed work for quality, coverage, and compliance with work orders, customer expectations, and site requirements.
- Maintain surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, masking, grinding, or applying primer.
- Apply paint, coatings, sealants, and finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Perform touch-up painting, rust removal, corrosion control, and finish repairs on airport equipment, facility areas, and related assets.
- Mix and apply paints and coatings according to specifications, safety requirements, and company standards.
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Document completed work, materials used, repair needs, and team progress as required.
- Support general maintenance tasks and coordinate with supervisors or other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver License.
- Previous commercial painting, industrial painting, automotive painting, facilities maintenance, or equipment refinishing experience preferred.
- Experience with prep, grit blast, and final paint of heavy machinery required.
- Ability to understand all paint related safety training including, Haz-Mat, respirator, VOC, and paint booth operation.
- Ability to communicate professionally to customers and fellow employees.
- Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with Airport operations a plus.
- Computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Possess basic mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequent climbing or balancing.
- Work in small spaces.
- Ladder work required.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems.
- Good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Good hand / eye coordination is required.
Work Environment
- Regulated by airport operation with vehicular traffic.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.
