Painter

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints
• Uses measuring tape, levels, squares for installations based on Engineering documentation (metric is preferred)
• Completes all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specifications including the direction of the mentoring Painter
• Uses power tools such as electric and pneumatic tools where applicable
• Uses lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, clear coat and epoxy with spray guns
• Installation and removal of fasteners such as nuts, bolts and rivets
• Knowledge of paint booth preparation for spraying applications
• May be responsible for wet sanding/buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards
• Uses a spray gun (HVLP) and maintains it
• Maintains proper cleaning towels and other supplies
• Prepares unit for painting: sanding, blocking, applying putty and visual inspection
• Performs bodywork (filling, blocking, bodyline creating/moving)
• Performs dent repair using filler
• Performs metal finish processes
• Mixing of Bondo required, Fiber Glass preferred
• Demonstrates attention to detail

• Proper use of PPE and observes safety and security procedures

Physical Requirements

• Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
• Significant climbing and balancing
• Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
• Significant fine finger dexterity
• Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 40% walking, and 45% standing
• The employee is occasionally required to recline; reach above shoulders; lift 50 pounds; lift from the floor or at arm level; and lift bulky items
• The job is performed under some temperature extremes
• Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of related experience

PAY RANGE

$17.20-$25.00/hour
