Painter
Responsibilities
- Assembling scaffolding as required.
- Covering trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
- Setting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect Painters from unhealthy fumes, wearing proper PPE.
- Preparing surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they're smooth.
- Mixing and matching paint, stain, and other finishes to job specifications.
- Painting using air and airless sprayers, rollers, and brushes.
- Reviewing production schedules and work orders to verify delivery of material and priorities of parts orders.
- Confer with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials.
- May move or transport material from one department to another, using company vehicle.
- May help update inventory using manual or computerized system.
- Taking and adhering to all health and safety precautions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school education or G.E.D equivalent.
- A valid State of Alaska Hazardous Paint Handler Certification.
- The ability to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language.
- A valid Alaska Driver's License.
- Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
- Experience with airless paint sprayer.
- Past carpentry experience is a plus.

Work Environment
Job is performed in a variety of settings including occupied or vacant housing units and a variety of industrial spaces, and at times exposed to all types of weather conditions.
Physical Demands
Lifting & Carrying: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; at times may lift and carry as much as 50 lbs.

Additional Qualifying Factors
- Will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base.
- Having reliable transportation to/from work is a necessity and must be able to have access to military installations.

Salary
$51.16 per hour
