About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Painter to prepare, paint, and finish equipment using paint booth systems and spray equipment to ensure a high-quality, durable finish. This role involves thorough surface preparation, including sanding and cleaning, as well as the assembly and reassembly of equipment throughout the painting process. In addition to painting duties, the Painter will assist in general shop operations as a Shop Technician when requested, including supporting repairs, equipment handling, and other shop-related tasks. This position will also support inventory control activities by tracking materials and maintaining adequate supply levels for continuous operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate paint booth and paint gun to apply coatings to equipment and components
  • Perform all prep work prior to painting, including cleaning, masking, and surface preparation
  • Sand and smooth surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and finish quality
  • Apply body filler in surface preparation, including mixing, application, shaping, and sanding to achieve smooth, paint-ready finishes
  • Assemble and reassemble equipment before and after the painting process
  • Absorb and assist with general shop repairs and maintenance as needed
  • Support shop operations as a Shop Technician when requested, including assisting with equipment setup, shop tasks, and material handling
  • Track and manage inventory of paint, materials, and supplies; ensure adequate stock levels are maintained for ongoing work
  • Absorb and assist with inventory control processes, including receiving, organizing, and stocking materials as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly handled
  • Follow safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets company quality standards
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as requested by management to support overall operations

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience with spray painting, paint booths, or similar equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques (sanding, cleaning, masking)
  • Mechanical aptitude for assembly and disassembly of equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable and responsible with tools, materials, and workspace

Education And Experience

A High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Hands-on experience operating paint booths, spray guns, and related painting equipment. Basic knowledge of computer and internet software. Familiarity with assembling and disassembling mechanical equipment.

Lifting- raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Fingering- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole and or arm as in handling. Grasping- applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm. Talking- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Climbing- ascending or descending. Occasional Physical Activity of the position: Balancing- maintaining body equilibrium. Fingering- perceiving attributes of objects by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. The visual acuity requirements: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. The conditions the worker will be submitted to in this position: The worker is subject to environmental conditions with activities that normally would occur indoors. The worker is occasionally required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
