Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, blasting, masking, and applying fillers as needed.
- Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings using spray guns and other application methods.
- Apply industrial coatings to metal parts and fully assembled heavy equipment.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure proper coverage, thickness, and quality standards.
- Maintain paint equipment, booths, and tools in safe working condition.
- Follow all safety procedures related to hazardous materials and ventilation systems.
- Read and interpret work orders, technical drawings, and coating specifications.
- Perform touch-ups and rework as necessary.
- Track materials usage and maintain accurate production records.
- Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to meet production deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED (required).
- 2+ years of experience in industrial or automotive painting (heavy equipment experience preferred).
- Knowledge of surface preparation, coating applications, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to use spray painting equipment and related tools.
- Basic understanding of OSHA safety standards and hazardous material handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience painting heavy-duty trucks or construction equipment.
- Familiarity with epoxy, urethane, and powder coating systems.
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance or equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights using ladders or platforms.
- Manual dexterity to operate spray guns and hand tools.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, coveralls, gloves, and eye protection.
- Tolerance for exposure to paint fumes, dust, noise, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, and airborne particulates.
- Work is done in paint booths and on the production floor.
- Must adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
