What You Will Do
- Oversight of paint processes and procedures to ensure flow and up-to-date equipment.
- Preparation, operation, and maintenance of all equipment within the paint department.
- Interactions with production, engineers, and quality to determine paint and testing equipment needs, updates, and/or modifications.
- Elimination of issues, improvement of safety, ergonomic & environmental impacts, and reporting as needed.
- Compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations per paint specs and requirements.
- Training and conducting refresher training for an effective paint department team.
- Maintenance of paint and coating specifications and relaying information to necessary departments.
- Collaboration with engineering to create and maintain work instructions for safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Support for maintaining and improving coatings and paint processes for current and new products.
- Failure analysis on paint failures from field returns as well as product issues from internal and external coating sources.
- Meeting department and company productivity and quality goals.
- Performing work in a safe manner and following all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Performing related work or job duties as required by management.
Requirements
- At least three years’ proven experience in industrial paint.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to prepare and maintain a wide variety of engineering reports, documentation, records, and spreadsheets using basic Microsoft Office 365 products and platforms.
- Experience in the mixology of paints, solvents, and chemicals needed for proper adhesion to various metals and materials.
- Knowledgeable in the proper disposal of such paints, solvents, and chemicals.
- Identification of paint needs and proposal of solutions.
- Experience calibrating PH meters, running chemical tests, reclaiming blasting booth, paint, and test equipment.
- Ability to understand and interpret policy and procedures.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced and high-volume setting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstration of maturity, intelligence, cooperation, and discretion.
- Ability to work independently and with fellow employees.
- Dependability under both supervised and unsupervised conditions.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and other shifts, if needed.
Nice to Have
- Five to ten years of experience working in an industrial paint setting.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
