About the role
This position is responsible for various paint prep processes, primarily focusing on the masking/taping of product prior to the finishing process. The role is geared towards developing skill sets to become a manufacturing painter.
Responsibilities
- Apply tape and protective paper to product parts that should be exempt of paint
- De-mask painted parts by removing tape
- Place plugs in holes of metal parts to prevent paint from entering
- Sand metal parts of imperfections
- Learn powder and/or liquid painting techniques under supervision
- Perform quality inspections of product being prepared
- Keep inventory of the various masking products (tape, protective paper, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School or GED diploma
- Ability to read specific directions related to the product mix
- Manual dexterity
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Adaptable to various situations
- Communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to show enthusiasm and desire to attain manufacturing painter skills
Physical demands and work environment
This position will work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and related noise levels. Position will be frequently required to walk, stand, bend, squat, and otherwise move continuously throughout shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
