About the Role

Technician shall prepare all components and airframe surfaces for painting and perform the painting of the components and airframes in accordance with Airbus manufacturer procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Paint Preparation (45%):
    • Prepare all surfaces for paint by sanding, masking, filling, washing, and removal of dents
    • Apply corrosive preventative treatments, primers, and finish coats of special material
  • Paint (45%):
    • Mix and/or tint paint as required
    • Perform layout of paint schemes as specified by the customer
    • Apply paint materials to all prepared surfaces according to manufacturer instructions
    • Complete aircraft for customer acceptance by brush touch-up, cleaning striping lines, and removal of overspray
  • Documentation (10%):
    • Release and update time sheets on a daily basis
    • Sign off work clearly and legibly in a timely manner, using adequate description of work being performed
    • Fill out all necessary blocks on the Discrepancy sheets as required
    • Sign off work using correct references: AMM, Engineering Dispositions, and Repair Design Approval Sheets (RDAS)
    • Complete toolbox audit sheets daily at the end of the shift
    • Complete forms and records pertaining to assigned work
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Other duties as assigned by shop lead

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
    • Preferred: Some Trade School
  • Experience:
    • Required: Minimum of four (4) years of painting and paint preparation on metal and composite/fiberglass components
  • Skills:
    • Strong paint skills and previous paint work experience
    • Able to read and work from blueprints and Bills of Material (BOM) to ensure proper coatings are applied in accordance with Technical Data
    • Must be able to use basic hand tools to remove and install hardware
    • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English
  • Citizenship: U.S. Person under ITAR requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Onsite or remote: 100% Onsite
  • Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, electronic equipment, documents, reports, and engineering drawings
  • Hearing: Able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms
  • Speaking: Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate office and personal electronic equipment, and some production tools such as hydraulic lifts
  • Carrying: Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg
  • Lifting: Able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push and pull small office furniture, equipment, and tools
  • Sitting: Able to sit for long periods in meetings or while working on the computer
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
  • Standing: Able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor
  • Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
    • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to: Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
    • Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
