About the role
Kern Medical seeks a PACS Administrator Assistant - Radiology - Per Diem to support the PACS system and imaging workflows. This position works four shifts per six-week period.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage PACS system function and workflow, including worklists for QA issues.
- Exports and sends images electronically or on CD/DVDs for patients throughout the day.
- Imports CDs and digital images/film as requested throughout the day.
- Manages Radiology records, including digital, paper, and film.
- Sends digital images using various platforms, including faxes and electronic reports to outside facilities.
- Prints daily Mammography schedules, prepares documentation needed for appointments, including requesting or importing and scanning in priors.
- Scans mammography patients' letters and BIRADS into PACS throughout the day.
- Assists in providing images for PowerPoint presentations for radiology conferences.
- Assists radiologists with calls, paging, faxing, and making copies.
- Answers incoming phone calls throughout the day.
- During weekends, assists with on-call duties as needed.
- Provides imaging records management support for Health Department's requests.
- Provides imaging records management support for legal cases.
- Provides computer systems training and assistance to radiologists (PACS, Powerscribe, Electronic Medical Record).
- Assists technologists with any PACS-related issues as needed (including merging of exams and accession numbers during and following downtime).
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, and three years of clerical, general computer, and office experience directly related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Transcription speed of 45 net words per minute.
- Proficiency in word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
- Knowledge of statistical methods, data compilation methods, inventory maintenance principles, customer service principles, standard office procedures, methods, and equipment, basic filing and recordkeeping principles, basic mathematical concepts, English language, grammar, and punctuation.
- Skills in compiling and managing data, preparing reports, prioritizing work, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, entering information into a database, maintaining various records and files, preparing presentations, using computers and specialized imaging-related software applications, performing mathematical calculations, processing forms using established guidelines, providing customer service, filing, keyboarding, using standard office equipment, and communicating both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
