About the role
The PACS Assistant Coordinator will manage the flow of information within the Imaging Services Department pertinent to the Picture Archiving and Communications System and the Radiology Information System. Reporting to the Divisional Director of Radiology or the Imaging Services Manager, this position oversees the efficient operation of the PACS and related systems.
Responsibilities
- Select appropriate studies for distribution, viewing, printing or burning.
- Transmit images to appropriate clinical devices for attending physicians and radiologists.
- Print images formatting, windowing and leveling as needed.
- Filing imaging media, CDs, DVDs in computer storage area.
- Burn CDs for referring physicians and patients.
- Document scanning.
- Responsible for equipment management for Imaging to include:
- Learning basic operation of printing devices for PACS (load film, clear jams, load CDs, etc.)
- Cleaning workstation environments.
- Fax machine supplies.
- Able to fill in at front desk in Radiology and make quick decisions when necessary.
- Maintain environment of safety for patients, self, and others.
- Maintain film library; purge old films when permitted.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 - 2 Years equivalent experience, preferred.
Skills
- Basic understanding of PACS and RIS systems.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail.
