Packer - Entry Level

Responsibilities

• Follow all Amcor safety and environmental policies and procedures
• Follow OSHA rules and regulations
• Monitor quality of product; inspects bottles for defects, inspects boxes for damage and properly follows customer pack patterns
• Communicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the Plant
• Properly seal, label and stack cartons of finished product
• Palletizes boxes weighing up to 35 lbs, band/utilizes pallet loads, moves pallets to staging area, operates pallet jack as required and trained
• Hand pack bottles according to written instructions
• Basic entry level operation of packing equipment
• Clear product jams as needed and trained
• Ensures needed packaging supplies and labels are in production area
• Performs janitorial work; sweep, clean and wipe down machinery, maintains a clean and orderly work area
• Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines; wears protective clothing, long-sleeved shirt, jeans or slacks, hair net, latex gloves and practices good hygiene
• Consistently lifts boxes that weigh 35lbs
• Maintains correct carton and skid count on production form each assigned machine
• Verifies correct weight and counts
• Stands for up to 12 hours a day packing bottles in cartons
• Construct cardboard boxes from collapsed cartons
• Sorts held ware correctly
• Willing and able to work overtime when needed
• Identifies and reports violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel
• Effectively responds in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and directs the activities of others
• Follows all Department Procedures and Directives
• All other duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • Must be able to monitor quality of machine output
  • Capable of lifting (up to 35 pounds)
  • Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms
  • Must be able to follow all department procedures and directives
  • Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner
