Packer

Position Overview

Perform duties to inspect for accuracy, pack and case like sets of product according to manufacturing and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Work from written and verbal instructions.
• Pack products according to established packing procedures; inspect for quality, pattern and randomality.
• Count product; check labels or tags for accuracy; insert literature; fold and assemble boxes.
• Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment and materials.
• Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision.
• Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Physical Demands

• Exerting average effort of lifting a box from the line up to middle of chest or shoulder level. Boxes range from a minimum of 2 pounds to the heaviest of 30 pounds. The average box is 12 pounds.
• Job duties are varied from making box, scanning QC checks, packing and lifting. Four different functions to complete one set.
• On the average an employee would lift 80 times/8 hours for a 12 pound box.
• Packing requires the use of the dominant hand for grasping with the help of the non-dominant hand. In 8 hours, packing the average box would consist of grasping 4800 times.
