Packaging Technician

About the role

This is a 6-month contract position located in Athens, GA, operating on the 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11 pm).

Responsibilities

• Package vaccines and run packaging machinery.
• Label and package finished goods, ensuring compliance with quality guidelines.
• Operate packaging equipment (e.g., labelers, pick and place, heat tunnel, vision systems, forklift) to meet target line rates.
• Perform accurate and efficient product inspections.
• Conduct equipment change-over and set-up, including initial troubleshooting for packaging equipment issues (e.g., labelers, pick and place, heat tunnel).
• Ensure proper cGMP documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Read, understand, and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Prepare QA line clearances (e.g., Small Volume Line).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including facilities and equipment as required by SOPs.
• Cross-train in other areas within the department to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Line Leader or Supervisor.

Communication

• Communicate processing needs to co-workers.
• Report progress several times a day to the Shift Line Leader and/or Supervisor.
• Escalate any process occurrences to the Shift Line Leader and/or Supervisor in real time.
• Communicate facility and inventory-related needs daily.

Assessment

• Monitor processes against manufacturing records, data capture forms, and SOPs.
• Participate in Daily Performance Reviews (Team).

Systems

• Complete batch tickets with materials consumed during execution.
• Provide feedback on the feasibility of proposed improvements.
• Adhere to defined process sequences.
