Packaging Technician

About the role

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is an industry leader in the design and supply of high-voltage, open-air substations and switchyards, established in 1965. Our commitment to our customers and vendors is built on a foundation of collaboration and innovation. We are currently seeking a Packaging Technician to join our team at our Port of Alexandria Facility in the Woodshop Department.

Responsibilities

• Successfully apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver etc
• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
• Build custom cribbing and crating for product
• Packaging of finished products from Welding Department
• Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and common power tools
• Moves parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes
• Keeps the warehouse property in order, including routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities
• Performs simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers)
• Operates all machinery and equipment, including the Company's forklift, in a safe manner
• Displays an excellent safety record

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares
• Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screw driver etc.
• Experience working in a Warehouse or Manufacturing environment preferred
