About the role
The Packaging Sourcing Specialist will collaborate closely with internal leadership and external partners to support strategic sourcing initiatives across Nutrabolt and Bloom. Primary responsibilities include managing pricing and supplier relationships for all packaging materials supporting beverage and active nutrition products. This role will lead cost optimization initiatives, drive sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial agreements, and oversee the award and implementation of new packaging business. The Packaging Sourcing Specialist will also develop and maintain strong partnerships with existing and prospective suppliers to ensure supply continuity, innovation, quality, and cost competitiveness.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key stakeholders in the development of strategic packaging component categories
- Manage supplier relationships, including pricing, contracts, performance, and allocation of packaging materials across the business
- Lead RFI/RFQ processes, including supplier evaluation, commercial negotiations, and business awards
- Complete quarterly pricing review and analysis of packaging components, working closely with internal and external partners
- Maintain strong partnerships with existing and prospective suppliers to ensure supply continuity, innovation, quality, and cost competitiveness
- Develop and execute cost optimization and value engineering initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional partners
- Support sustainability initiatives through packaging innovation, material optimization, and supplier collaboration
- Manage contracted packaging pricing by tracking forecasts, usage, and purchase requirements to ensure cost accuracy and supply continuity
- Support supply chain teams through coordinating expedites and ensuring material availability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Packaging Engineering / Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience or interactive exposure in a packaging/supply chain role
- Solid understanding of packaging materials and product commercialization process from packaging design through manufacturing
- Proficient in Microsoft office, TOPS; Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
- Experience in fast-paced CPG environment is a plus
- Ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgement, and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers
- Able to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to independently travel up to 25% of the time to supplier locations and industry conferences
- Strong knowledge of commodities and global packaging markets
- Experience with primary and secondary packaging equipment and application
