Essential Position Responsibilities
- Operates machine to bag finished pet food products.
- Checks holding bins for proper products.
- Affixes accurate codes to bags.
- Ensures proper sealing of product bags.
- Documents production lots for quality assurance.
- Rotates positions with other employees.
- Reports line or machine problems to Packaging Lead.
- Participates in team meetings and initiatives.
- Works towards achieving organizational synergy.
Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives
- Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies).
- Responsibility to maintain familiarity with systems and role in supporting them.
- Consideration of individual actions' impact on systems and communication of concerns and improvement ideas.
Physical Activities
- Work in temperature extremes (below 40 to over 100 degrees).
- Work on feet for entire shift.
- Lift and stack up to 55 pounds of packaged product.
- Empty packages into packaging cylinders repetitively.
- Hold 55 pounds of finished product inside a bag.
- Climb up and down stairs/ladders to heights of up to 150 feet.
- Work inside or outside.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Head covering.
- Ear plugs.
- Safety glasses.
- Non-skid steel-toed boots.
- Other protective equipment as needed or required.
Technical Experience
- Previous machine operation skills, particularly packaging equipment skills preferred.
Industry Experience
- Manufacturing experience in pet food production preferred.
