About the Role
The Packaging Manager oversees all phases of packaging, ensuring proficiency with tracking and monitoring systems. This role works closely with the Facility Director for daily personnel needs and to meet quality standards. The successful candidate will be an effective leader with strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the safe, accurate, and timely production of product packaging.
- Maintains cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of the production area.
- Implements quality control measures to ensure a high-quality product.
- Ensures compliance with State regulations and testing requirements.
- Understands the proper and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Develops SOPs to ensure safety, quality, and consistent processes.
- Prepares inventory reports to ensure products are available, accurate, and in demand.
- Maintains packaging inventory to ensure a seamless production schedule.
- Ensures accurate weighing and inventory; all products are packaged, counted, sorted, and labeled correctly.
- Leads and manages the daily activities of the packaging staff, assigning tasks, adjusting schedules, and assigning breaks to achieve high-quality results and efficient workflows.
- Assists with other tasks as assigned by the Facility Director.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment (cannabis industry experience preferred).
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Familiarity with local and state cannabis regulations preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver against multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Able to maintain confidentiality; reliable and trustworthy.
- Ability to remain calm during high-stress or unusual activity.
- Ability to pass federal and state background checks.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with seed-to-sale and inventory systems.

Schedule
This role requires daily on-site attendance for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Work schedules may be adjusted as needed to support business operations.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Must be able to work quickly but efficiently while maintaining product integrity.
- Light to moderate lifting of up to 50 lbs; heavier weights with assistance.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.
- Repetitive use of hands, arms, and fingers; ability to handle delicate plant material and tools with precision.
- Must adhere to general hygiene requirements at the Syracuse facility.
- Capacity to stay focused on tasks.
- Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
