About the role

The Packaging Lead packages and prepares all products for distribution, ensuring meticulous execution and supporting daily workflow. This role assists packaging team members, provides training and coaching in collaboration with supervisors, and opens or closes shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area for yourself and other employees
  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
  • Ensure adequate product levels at each station to maintain packaging flow
  • Observe Packaging Support team members, train, and coach to meet quotas
  • Maintain high-quality standards during shifts, including QA/QC of all products
  • Work well with others in high-pressure situations with a sense of urgency
  • Communicate discrepancies in quantities or quality of product
  • Perform opening and closing duties
  • Ensure proper storage of facility consumables and products, complying with safety practices
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in a clean, organized packaging area
  • Minimize waste through visual quality inspections
  • Communicate effectively with various levels within the company
  • Assist in training Packaging Support employees on procedures, techniques, and compliance
  • Report quality or safety discrepancies to supervisors, managers, or directors
  • Make recommendations regarding personnel evaluation and training
  • Assist the Production Manager or Packaging Supervisor as needed
  • Ensure a safe working environment and communicate daily on safety topics
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of directly related experience in food production or manufacturing, or equivalent education and experience
  • 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
  • Experience with food manufacturing, sanitation, and safety regulations
  • Ability to work with a high sense of urgency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google, Slack; experience with Jira or other management platforms preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English
  • Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Occasional travel between buildings and sites
  • Ability to maintain and manage confidential information
  • Must be 21 years of age or older (state regulation)
  • ServSafe or Food Handler’s Card preferred
  • Must pass a background check and obtain all applicable state-required permits, licenses, and certifications
