Responsibilities
- Ensure leads are aware of any changes for trays, can size, can codes, and scheduled orders.
- Inspect cans for label alignment, can codes, UPC, dents, droops, and other defects.
- Strip improper labels using hands and cutting utensils.
- Notify supervisor and maintenance of mechanical problems or potential issues.
- Inform Tray Packer operator of label or code changes.
- Monitor and ensure proper label adhesion.
- Assist with can changeovers and manage downtime for cleanup.
- Verify that can codes match the schedule and labels.
- Communicate changeovers with Unloader/Brite Stacker operators.
- Coordinate with Palletizer operator to ensure proper pallet count.
- Perform weekly sanitation.
- Participate as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Attend team meetings and foster strong cohesiveness on major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
- Identify and address areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the team leader’s attention and working toward resolution.
- Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Familiarize yourself with Simmons' operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and understand your role in supporting them.
- Communicate concerns and improvement ideas related to operating systems.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Experience within a manufacturing or process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Machine operation experience preferred.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
