This role is located in Gaylord, Minnesota, the county seat and hub of Sibley County in south-central Minnesota—about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. The facility produces liquid egg, hard-cooked egg, and precooked egg products such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all tray packers and ensures proper operations (loading trays, maintaining proper glue volume, etc.).
  • Maintains video jet coders to ensure they are properly cleaned, have adequate liquid, display correct information, and produce clear, readable print.
  • Monitors shrink-wrap machine and adds film as required.
  • Fills in for other Packaging machine operators during breaks and vacations.
  • Monitors date on master shipper for legibility and takes corrective actions when necessary.
  • Sets up equipment and materials for production runs.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe, and productive work area.
  • Fosters open communication and a positive attitude toward work and fellow employees.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
  • Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions, and ensures product quality; reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Performs sanitation procedures in accordance with department and food safety standards (sometimes for the duration of the shift).
  • Runs, cleans, conducts preventive maintenance, and troubleshoots extended-run fillers (e.g., Elopack Fillers/Capers Scholle).
  • Navigates operating systems on tablets to conduct required quality and performance checks.
  • Follows instructions for ingredient mixing.
  • Calculates mathematical equations, figures, and amounts, including proportions, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
  • Ensures food safety and food quality of Michael Foods products.
  • Performs other similar duties and responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out oral instructions and deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.

Pay

$21.93 to $27.54 per hour.

Schedule

12-hour day shifts, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
