About the role
As part of a global Packaging COE (R&D) team, you will develop, verify, and validate packaging designs for medical devices or pharmaceutical products at one of the following client sites: Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; Vernon Hills, Illinois; or Salt Lake City, Utah.
Responsibilities
- Apply packaging engineering principles and design-control processes to create, prototype, and qualify new packaging concepts with moderate guidance.
- Evaluate and improve existing packaging concepts with moderate guidance.
- Identify, analyze, and specify standard packaging materials and equipment.
- Support external resources and contractors as needed.
- Communicate technical knowledge effectively and validate understanding of packaging test methods, standards, and related equipment.
- Develop medical-device packaging systems for both flexible and rigid applications.
- Perform packaging-system verification and validation.
- Use CAD tools for packaging design and apply statistics and design-of-experiments methodologies.
- Adhere to client Quality and Corporate Policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical-device packaging.
- Working knowledge of packaging engineering principles, legal requirements, and design-control documentation.
- Experience with ISO 11607, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and EU Medical Device Regulation (EUMDR).
