Package Handler - Feeder Aircraft PT-2

Essential Functions

  • Provides safe and efficient operation of equipment used for the movement of packages, documents and dangerous goods as related to the interface between feeder aircraft loading/unloading.
  • Regularly loads/unloads, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages.
  • Utilizes “hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling.
  • Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shift of 3-5 hours, with potential of working one or more shifts each day.
  • Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorting packages accordingly.

Safety and Communication

  • Complies with all relevant safety policies, company policies and procedures.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Communicates both timely and effectively.

Physical Demands

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance from the ground to chest level and to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. using appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
  • Able to walk, stand, bend and squat for designated work hours.
  • Able to maneuver packages in enclosed spaces, stack packages above one’s head and climb stairs or ladders if required at work location.

Training and Certifications

  • Must satisfactorily complete and maintain all company and government-regulated training, including STA clearance.
  • Yearly training recertification is required.
  • Able to successfully complete all basic and re-currency training.

Working Conditions

  • Will need to work in hot and cold temperatures.
  • Will need to work in an environment with loud noise.

Minimum Qualifications

  • No education required.
  • No experience required; six (6) months experience with FedEx preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
  • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
  • Ability to communicate both timely and effectively. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
