Package Handler - Feeder Aircraft PT-1

Essential Functions

• Provides safe and efficient operation of equipment used for the movement of packages, documents and dangerous goods as related to the interface between feeder aircraft loading/unloading.
• Regularly loads/unloads, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages.
• Utilizes “hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling.
• Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shift of 3-5 hours, with potential of working one or more shifts each day.
• Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorting packages accordingly.

Workplace Safety

Complies with all relevant safety policies, company policies and procedures. Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• No education required
• No experience required; six (6) months experience with FedEx preferred
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly
• Ability to communicate both timely and effectively. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
• Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance from the ground to chest level and to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. using appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person
• Able to walk, stand, bend and squat for designated work hours
• Able to maneuver packages in enclosed spaces, stack packages above one’s head and climb stairs or ladders if required at work location
• Must satisfactorily complete and maintain all company and government-regulated training, including STA clearance
• Yearly training recertification is required
• Able to successfully complete all basic and re-currency training

Preferred Qualifications

• Pay Transparency: Pay: $20.20 - $21.20 /hr
