Responsibilities

  • Place orders with suppliers for production material used in truck assembly at four manufacturing plants.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure material arrives according to guidelines.
  • Determine production requirements for assigned groupings of manufactured or purchased parts.
  • Issue purchase and/or manual orders to meet manufacturing schedules and maintain proper inventory levels while navigating material planning issues.
  • Host conference calls with internal and external personnel to resolve supply chain disruptions and EDI discrepancies.
  • Plan and coordinate the introduction of new parts and reduce current inventory with Plant/Division Engineering, Materials, Purchasing, Marketing, and Assembly teams.
  • Forecast orders during low visibility using various reporting tools.
  • Negotiate delivery, expediting, or other special charges with suppliers.
  • Serve as a focal point for Materials’ supplier management, monitoring supplier quality, service, and delivery issues.
  • Communicate and escalate issues, information, and resolutions to Materials Planners, Corporate Commodity Managers, Directors, and Senior Leadership.
  • Provide allocations for highly constrained material across multiple production facilities to prevent production impacts.
  • Resolve difficult supply chain and material planning situations independently.
  • Initiate and establish EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) programs with Materials Planners, PACCAR MIS, and suppliers.
  • Maintain EDI working sets for use by Kenworth & Peterbilt suppliers and plant planners.
  • Negotiate packaging, sub-assembly, and program charges with suppliers.
  • Establish and improve JIT (Just-in-Time) and material flow improvement programs with Assembly, Accounting, Materials, and suppliers.
  • Review inventory levels for excess, surplus, or obsolete accumulations and recommend disposal.
  • Coordinate special projects/programs as required.
  • Up to 10% travel may be expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS certification (CPIM, CIRM, or CSCP).
  • Experience with Kanban and “Lean Material Handling.”
  • Strong leadership, technical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in personal computer software, including word processing, Excel, Access databases, and Tableau.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally; results-oriented.

Pay

Annual salary range: $67,800 - $101,700.

This position is located in Kirkland, WA or Denton, TX.
