About the role

The Hawaii State Department of Education seeks to hire highly qualified teachers in various roles, including special education mild/moderate positions.

Responsibilities

  • Valid Special Education Mild/Moderate license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
  • Experience in a K-12 school setting.
  • Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
  • Show independent and professional judgment.
  • Maintain an effective work pace under pressure.
  • Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
  • Work effectively with others.

Qualifications

  • Desired Experience: Special education mild/moderate classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
  • Desired Knowledge: Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions; maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others.

  • Payday: On the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
  • Compensation: 10-month teachers shall be compensated for the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 10-month salary schedule for working a 10-month work year.

  • Temporary Disability Insurance: Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non-work related injury or illness under this program.
  • Workers' Compensation: If an employee is injured while on the job, benefits covering medical expenses and partial wage support may be available through workers' compensation.

Schedule
