Pahoa Elementary: Grade K-6 Special Education Teacher, 601875 (2026-03382)

Pahoa Elementary School is looking for a passionate, dedicated Inclusion Special Education Teacher to join our 'ohana. In this role, you will work collaboratively alongside general education teachers to co-teach, differentiate instruction, and ensure every student has equal access to learning in an inclusive classroom setting.

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach and differentiate instruction in an inclusive classroom setting
  • Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings
  • Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions
  • Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively
  • Work effectively with others

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum qualification for teacher, librarian, or counselor positions)
  • Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire
  • If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you must enroll in and complete a program within 3 years to maintain employment
  • Must demonstrate active pursuit of Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board
  • Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting

Pay

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month. Compensation follows the Bargaining Unit 05 10-month salary schedule.
