About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Grade 5 General Education Teacher who will inspire academic curiosity and critical thinking, helping students discover their unique voice, explore their kuleana (responsibility) to the world around them, and connect deeply with the rich culture and ‘aina of Hawai‘i.

Responsibilities

• Inspire Academic Growth: Deliver an engaging, standards-based multi-subject curriculum tailored to the unique developmental milestones of fifth graders.
• Integrate Culture: Weave Hawaiian values, local history, and a deep respect for the ‘aina (land) into daily lessons, project-based learning, and place-based experiences.
• Build commUNITY: Foster a collaborative, positive classroom environment, partner closely with families, and team up with co-teachers and specialists on cross-curricular initiatives.
• Nurture Purpose: Create an inclusive, safe space where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered as they develop critical leadership skills and prepare for the future.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (required for teacher, librarian, or counselor positions).
• If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you must obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license within 3 years and enroll in a program immediately to continue employment.
• Must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit of Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment.
• Upon hire, must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.

It is your responsibility to ensure the program you enroll in aligns with the teaching line you are hired for.

Pay

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
