PA or CRNP, Staff or Senior - Bradford Internal Medicine

Regional Health Services is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support Bradford Internal Medicine, an outpatient clinic within UPMC Primary Care, Bradford Medical Group. The practice serves residents of McKean County and surrounding areas.

About the Role

The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the care-delivery team responsible for setting the standards of care, managing a panel of patients and their families, and collaborating with physicians and other health-care providers. The role includes leadership, partnership, and supervision within the team.

Responsibilities

• Apply basic professional practice knowledge and skills appropriate for the outpatient setting.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation.
• Demonstrate critical thinking in all areas of professional practice.
• Incorporate UPMC’s goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
• Formulate individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Demonstrate initiative and seek opportunities to improve clinical practice.
• Build collaborative relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Identify and seek assistance for ethical situations in patient care or the workplace.
• Gradually increase patient load and complexity under supervision.
• Engage in clinical development of all team members.
• Seek and utilize performance feedback to improve practice.
• Identify learning needs and create a plan for ongoing professional development.
• Provide basic patient and family education.
• Participate in professional organizations and review professional literature.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of research and evidence-based practice.
• Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and communicate them to the team.
• Demonstrate cultural awareness and support workplace safety.
• Recommend improvements to clinical care and workplace health.
• Set priorities and serve as an engaged team member.
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Assess and interpret patient data to meet age-specific needs.

Requirements

• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, staff, patients, and families.
• Work productively in a complex environment with multiple priorities and specialized equipment.
• Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills related to patient care.
• Good clinical judgment and the ability to lead others in applying standards of practice.
• Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
• Dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable.

Qualifications

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

• Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Professional nursing and/or nurse practitioner experience preferred.
• Current Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification.
• National certification; eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania Board of Nursing and certification as a CRNP.
• Current CPR certification.
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 clearances required.

Physician Assistant (PA)

• Graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• BS or MS preferred.
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or in a clinical setting preferred.
• Current Pennsylvania PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Current CPR certification.
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 clearances required.

Senior Level

• Minimum 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency.
• Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program or ARC-PA-accredited PA program.
• BSN/MSN preferred for CRNP; BS/MS preferred for PA.
• National certification.
• Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual evaluation for consideration and maintenance of status.
• Completion of an OAPP-approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion; department chair approval required.
• ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS, or other AHA-certified course within 30 days of hire (didactic and skills demonstration).
• For outpatient settings, APPs may use a business-unit-approved certification relevant to the practice.
