Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide history and physical as appropriate for each patient.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosing, treating and managing patients.
- Maintain legible, accurate and confidential medical records.
- Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals and consultation.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies, imaging studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Formulate a treatment plan. Uses evidence-based practice guidelines and assessment tools.
- Prescribe medication and treatments and monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Complete documentation and patient billing in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitate patient and family education.
- Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Perform symptom management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous work experience as a Physician Assistant in an Oncology setting is strongly preferred.
- Specialty training/experience beneficial.
Qualifications
- Must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current, active, unrestricted licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Licensed to practice in California.
- Current BLS certification.
- DEA certificate and NPI number.
