Overpayment Specialist - Disability

About the role

The Overpayment Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring financial accuracy and customer satisfaction by managing overpayment cases and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned caseload of claims that were overpaid due to various reasons.
• Ensure proper recovery follow-up and adherence to established guidelines.
• Update and maintain accurate records of overpayment recovery activities in various claims applications.
• Resolve overpayment issues by adhering to established policies and practices.
• Assist with referrals to vendors and follow up on the status of pending claims with a recovery agency or vendor.
• Write and send out letters with detailed calculations.
• Handle incoming and outgoing calls with various customers.
• Assist with tax inquiries related to overpayments/repayments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of customer service experience, including outbound phone work.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and formatting).
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to interpret and follow process documentation.
• Effective written communication skills, including professional letter writing.
• Ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working in a matrixed organizational structure.
• Highly self-motivated with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of Claims experience or similar experience.
• Negotiation skills.
• Experience with ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) and Disability Plan and Policy Language.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $41,600 - $45,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
