Overpayment Specialist - Disability
About the role
The Overpayment Specialist plays a crucial role in the GCSO team, supporting operational efficiency and financial accuracy by managing overpayment cases and collaborating across functions.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned caseload of claims that were overpaid due to various reasons, ensuring proper recovery follow-up and adherence to established guidelines.
- Update and maintain accurate records of overpayment recovery activities in various claims applications.
- Adhere to established policies and practices to resolve overpayment issues.
- Assist with referrals to vendors and follow up on the status of pending claims with a recovery agency and/or vendor.
- Write and send out letters with detailed calculations.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls with various customers.
- Aid in tax inquiries related to overpayments/repayments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of customer service experience, including outbound phone work.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and formatting).
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to interpret and follow process documentation.
- Effective written communication skills, including professional letter writing.
- Ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in a matrixed organizational structure.
- Highly self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Claims experience or similar experience.
- Negotiation skills.
- Experience with ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) and Disability Plan and Policy Language.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $41,600 - $45,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
